With the support of Netherlands Embassy Multi Stake Holders Forum; Promoting Disability Rights and Inclusion in Democratic Transition in Myanmar was conducted at Grand Amara Hotel, Nay Pyi Taw, from 2nd to 3rd May 2019 for two days. In opening ceremony, Dr.Win Myat Aye, Co-Chairman of Disability Rights Committee, Union Minister of Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement addressed opening speech. Then, Acting President of Myanmar Federation of Persons with Disabilities U Thein Lwin delivered welcoming and honorary speech and Executive Director of MILI U Nay Lin Soe presented the objective of workshop. Then, Director of Relief and Resettlement Department, U Swan Yi Ya presented current implementing activities of government for the rights and inclusion of PWDs and U- Report Team presented online survey result relating to disability.
In workshop, Director General of Relief and Resettlement Department, U Win Naing Tun who mainly guided and coordinated for organizing workshop, delegates from related departments of government sector, Parliament Members of Pyithu Hlut Taw and Amyothar Hlut Taw, Non-Government Organizations, Civil Society Organizations, Disabled People Organizations and People with Disabled were attended.
In panel section (A), Executive Director of MILI U Nay Lin Soe, President of Disabled People Development Organization U Thant Zaw Oo, Daw Yatanar Aung from MFPD and Daw Aye Thin Zar Maung from Myanmar National Association of the Blind were discussed as panelists and Hash-Tag Campaign on social media also conducted.
On the second day, Ayeyarwaddy Regional Parliament Member U Aung Kyaw Myaing presented with the topic of participation of PWDs in politics and civil affairs. Then, in panel section (B) Director of Department of Basic Education U Toe Win, Deputy Director of Department of labor U Myo Tint Aung, Director of Department of Disaster Risk Management Daw Phyu Lei Lei Tun and Director of Department of Medical Service Dr.Soe Min Oo were discussed as panelists. After panel section, group work discussion and presentation was conducted. Then, the best questioners for panel sections and winners of Hash-tag Social Media Campaign were awarded. After that MILI Coordinator Daw Yu Yu Swe delivered closing remarks and two day workshop was successfully accomplished.
